Summer Pets

Barney is a happy California Lhasa apso who gets around with the help of a "doggie wheelchair." He pulls out all the stops when it comes to showing off his summer style.

This Texas cat's owner says, "We call Crush the dog/cat. As a kitten he earned that name eating out of the dog food bowl. He also loves to play and nap with his four dog siblings. Crush was a city cat, but now he lives in the country and loves it."

Has Sophie had one too many? This New York Pomeranian loves to play with big dogs. She grew up with a 165-pound Saint Bernard!

Sandy can be a handful -- she once brought a baby opossum into the house to play with. This Australian cattle dog mix goes for a swim every morning. She loves the pool and even has her own inflatable raft.

Bella Chica enjoys sitting among the flowers in the summer. She also loves to dive in the water of her little kiddie pool to cool off on those Dog Days of summer.

Lulu Bella's owner says, "At only four pounds, Lulu amazes everyone with her ear-splitting barks and unbelievable endurance in the pool. She's normally a sweet and sassy little girl, and we are always surprised by how comically crazed she becomes when it is time to go swimming!"

Tyty the Lab enjoys a game of fetch at the pool to get away from the Miami heat. She's a very smart dog who always wants to learn more. She brings in the mail, rolls over, and even plays the piano.

Princess is a Siamese mix from Tennessee. She spends hours on the deck in nice weather, and her favorite place to keep cool is nestled among the ferns.

Archie, left, wanted to be in the pool, but not in the water. He even got his friend Nancy to join him on his floatie. These two Pembroke Welsh corgis hail from Los Angeles.

Now that's refreshing! Three collie pups take a break from playtime to grab a drink from a park fountain.
